![]() What do we mean by the word 'habit'?A habit is something we do on a regular basis, often without thinking. We do it automatically. Sometimes we have good habits (like helping set the table for dinner without being told, or doing our homework when we get home from school) and sometimes we have 'not so good'” habits (staying up late to play on the computer on a school night or not putting our clothes in the wash basket).
Our brains can have good and 'not so good'” habits as well and these can affect the way we learn. When we procrastinate, give up easily, get off the track when we are trying to concentrate, think negatively about everything…these are some of the ‘not-so-good' habits. A man named Art Costa developed what are known as the Habits of Mind. These are 16 positive habits that can help you develop better ways to study and learn. Resource Links
